  Holly  Days   2007

Join us for our annual month long celebration of the holiday season!  Holly Days is the cooperative effort between the Village of Westmont, the Westmont Chamber of Commerce, the Westmont Historical Society and the Westmont Park District.  We will be showcasing lights in Veteran's Memorial Park, many activites with Santa, and a variety of new programs. The Holly Days Winter Festival will officially commence on Friday, November 23rd.

Holly Days Decorating Day

Watch as the Holly Days festival comes to life in Veterans Memorial Park on the annual Decorating Day!  Local groups will be all around the park, decorating their assigned trees.   Don't forget to bring a donation to our food drive, then stop by the Community Center and do some shopping at our Gift Bazaar.

Holly Days Opening Ceremony

There is no better way to ring in the holiday season than in downtown Westmont for our Holly Days Opening Ceremony! Here is a glimpse of what is planned that day.

 

Westmont Centre Open House   4:00 - 6:00 PM

Opening Ceremony Entertainment 

         Quincy St. Stage, 5:30 - 6:15

Gregg House Victorian Christmas 5:00 - 9:00 PM

Meet Santa's Reindeer   

         4:30 - 5:45 PM and after parade until 7:00 PM

Roasted Chestnuts at the Westmont Centre

         4:30 - 7:00 PM or while supplies last

Frosty and Friends Parade   Starting at 6:15 PM

Village Tree Lighting Ceremony 

         Begins at conclusion of parade

Visits with Santa after Tree Lighting

Holly Days Giving Tree

In the true spirit of giving, the Holly Days Committee will create a Giving Tree at the Community Center for local fmailies who need some extra help this season.  Each star on the tree will represent a Westmont neighbor could use your help.  Please stop in an select a star.  Stars will be available beginning November 12, and gifts should be returned by December 12.  The gifts will then be picked up by the families on Friday, December 14 at the Westmont Centre, 1 S. Holly Days Gift Bazaar

Calling All Crafters!  Reserve your place in our annual gift bazaar today!  We had over 60 tables last year and plenty shoppers.  There will be an hourly cash drawing for customers to spend on your merchandise.  Table and 2 chair can be provided for a fee, reservations are made on a first come first serve basis.  Contact Linda with questions at 630-969-8080 ext. 121.

 

Calling All Shoppers!  Get all your holiday shopping done in one stop this year at our Holly Days Crafts Corner!  Come and see all the beautiful items just waiting for you.   There is something for everyone on your list.  There will be an hourly cash drawing.

Holiday Food Drive

The Holly Days Committee will be collecting non-perishable items to donate to local food pantries.   Please bring your donations to Veterans Memorial Park, located behind the Community Center.

Bonfire and Caroling

Come all ye faithful as we celebrate this holiday season singing our favorite holiday carols. We'll begin these festive Thursday evenings in December on a hay wagon, entertaining our Westmont neighbors. Afterward we will return to the designated park to continue our celebration with hot chocolate, coffee and other treats around a cozy bonfire. Event will run from 7:00 - 8:15 PM each Thursday. No registration necessary.

Season's Splendor Saturday Nights

Spend your Saturday evenings enjoying the holiday splendor at Veterans Memorial Park.  Stop by the Westmont Park District Senior Center and visit Santa and the elves in his workshop, enjoy entertainment by local performers, have some refreshments, then head on over to the Gregg House Museum Holiday Open House to view the holiday decor and displays.  Don't forget to check our our beautiful Holly Days Tree Walk from the horse drawn wagons.

House and Buisness Decorating Contest

Bring out your holiday best and enter your home or buisness in our annual Decorating Contest!   The panel of judges will travel through town to select the winners in a variety of categories.  Entry forms are available at the Community Center and at the Village Hall.  Please feel free to nominate your neighbors! Registration deadline is December 7.

 

Polar Express

This is your chance to capture some of the magic of Chris Van Allsburg's beloved holiday story.  Before boarding the Polar Express we will read the story at the Westmont Centre, 1 S. Cass Ave.   We will then board the train at the Westmont Train Station and head to the North Pole (Aurora depot).  While at the North Pole you will have the chance to see Santa and his elves, and enjoy some refreshments and entertainment.  Advanced tickets are required and each family is limited to 10 tickets.  Registration deadline is December 1, or when the maximum is reached.

Breakfast with Santa, Mrs. Claus and Rudolph

Spend Saturday morning enjoying your pancake breakfast with three of your favorite holiday friends.   Children will be able to visit with Santa and share their holiday wishes after the show. Pre-registration is required, deadline is November 24th.

Lunch with Santa, Mrs. Claus and Rudolph

Even Santa needs a long lunch break during his busiest time of the year.  Enjoy a pizza lunch and live entertainment with Santa and Mrs. Claus.  There will be plenty of audience participation, so be ready to sing along!  Pre-registration is required, deadline is December 8.

Phone Calls from Santa

Santa is very eager to speak to all of you good little boys and girls before the big day.   Have you been good this year?  If so, tell Mom or Dad to stop by the Community Center to fill out our very special form to send to Santa.  He set aside Thursday, December 13 to call all of the good boys and girls.  Calls will be made form 5:30 - 8:00 PM.  Forms must be completed by Tuesday, December 11 to get to Santa in time.

Santa's Mailbox

Mail your wish-list to Santa using our very special North Pole mailbox, located in the lobby of the Community Center.  Please address your letter to Santa and Mrs. Claus at 1 N. Candy Cane Lane, this way the North Pole elves will be sure to get your letter to Santa.  Don't forget to include your address as well so Santa will be able to write you back. Make sure and drop your letter off by December 14 so Santa will have enough time to read and reply to all the letters. 

 

Frost-tee Golf Open

All die-hard golfers, dress warm and prepare to challenge yourself to this unique game of golf at Twin Lakes Golf Club.  Sign up as an individual, or register in a foursome.  Must be 16 years of age to participate.  Tee times may be requested but are not guaranteed. Frosty and Friends Night Parade

Join us at the Opening Ceremonyto see Frosty and Friends march down Cass Ave, starting from Naperville Road and heading south to Quincy Street. Other guests will include live animals, local bands, floats and our favorite North Pole friends, Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Local merchants will be open for your holiday

Holly Days Family 5K Run/Walk

Work off that Thanksgiving meal at our Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk.  Walk through the streets of downtown Westmont, beginning in front of mbc Fitness, (28 N. Cass Ave).  Participants may pre-register for the event, forms will be available at the Westmont Park District Community Center, mbc Fitness, or online at www.signmeupsports.com.   Race day registration will begin at 7:30 AM at the Westmont Centre, 1 S. Cass Ave.   Award and refreshments will be given out at the completion of the race.  All fitness levels are welcome to participate in this

USTA certified course.
