Twin Lakes Park
Originally developed in 1973 Twin Lakes Park is a 17 acre parcel and one of three community parks in Westmont serving the south third of the community. After 33 years a number of the facilities, specifically the athletic courts, had reached their useful life and were in need of replacement. The park also lacked a picnic shelter and proper restroom facilities that should be provided in each of Westmont's community parks.
The need to provide these facilities and make Twin Lakes a true community park to better serve the residents on the south end of the community created the impetus to apply for an Illinois Department of Natural Resources Development Grant. Awarded in 2007 this $190,000 grant provided funding to assist in the construction of a new 40' x 80' picnic shelter with restrooms and utilities, a picnic grove with grilles, a sand volleyball court, 4 tennis courts, 1 ½ basketball courts with competition level rims and acrylic backboards and miscellaneous pathway reconstruction.
The project was completed in the June of 2008 and has provided new recreational opportunities for the residents of Westmont.

Athletic courts
The District provides outdoor tennis and basketball courts at a number of parks throughout he community. Maintenance requirements varied among these courts ranging from color coating to pavement reconstruction. The Park Board made the decision to perform the necessary improvements to eliminate unnecessary maintenance in the near future and provide the best outdoor playing surface possible for the residents of Westmont. All courts look and play as if they are new construction and each of the basketball courts have competition level rims and acrylic backboards, same as the new courts at Twin Lakes Park.
Outdoor courts in the District are located at Blackhawk (basketball only), Ty Warner (tennis only), Fritz Werley, Kiwanis, Veterans and Twin Lakes Parks.

New projects
Come spring of 2009, the Westmont Park District will no longer have any wood playgrounds. The last of these relics from the early 1980's are being replaced at Lions and Oakwood Parks. These two playgrounds are currently under construction and will be completed as soon as the weather breaks. Equipment from Gametime will be installed at Oakwood Park and Landscape Structures at Lions Park. Access to the playgrounds will also be improved.
Along with this Rotary and Williams Cove Parks are undergoing a number of improvements. An accessible sidewalk has been added at Rotary Park improving access to the playground and the old pea gravel surfacing has been replaced with a better and more accessible fybar playground mulch. At Williams cove a small 2-5 year old play structure is being added to the tot playground and an accessible sidewalk we be installed from the public sidewalk traversing down to the shelter and playground entrance. These projects will also be completed come spring 2009.

Golf Course
The two asphalt parking lots at Twin Lakes Golf Course are slated for removal and replacement before the golf season is in full swing. Plans are scheduled to be available for bid in February, and pending an award of bid, construction on the lots will commence in the late April.
