SHEDD AQUARIUM & THE JELLIES EXHIBIT

Card Making Tips and Tricks

Join us for 2 hours of card making fun! Whether you are new to this craft, or have been making cards for years, you are sure to learn some new tips and techniques. Four designs will be presented, and you will be supplied with materials to make 2 cards of each design. The themes for this month's class will be Valentine or With love, and Snow or Warm Winter Wishes. This class is being taught by Amanda and Beth who are avid paper crafters, and who love to share their passion with others. Fees includes supplies for making your own cards. Overnight Ski Trip

Stay up all night as the slopes at Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort will be open exclusively for Illinois Park Districts. Have fun snowboarding, skiing, playing in the arcade, hanging out at the bonfire and enjoying treats from the snack bar. Additional waivers required when registering. Valentine Water Globes

Ages: 4-10 years Make your own fun today when you create a very special water globe. We’ll color some cute valentine friends, add water and glitter and then shake it for fun. Add a special valentine message and you will have the best valentine gift ever! Share it with your family and friends or give it to your secret sweetheart! After making your water globe, take time to view the museum’s Victorian Valentine exhibit and see some real old-fashioned Valentines. This is a drop-in program; allow 20-30 minutes.  [more]

Snow Tubing

It's time to pursue snow-filled fun on the slopes of Villa Olivia in Bartlett! Fee includes transportation, tube rental and lift ticket. Additional waivers are required upon registration and are available at the Community Center. Don't forget to bring some money for hot chocolate and snacks! Frozen Film Festival

Filmmakers, directors, actors...join us in making our 1st ever Frozen Film Festival a success. Listed below are the dates for registration; you may enter any work created after 2005. After the deadline, our Screening Team will view films to determine which category the film will be entered. This is your chance to get your filmed viewed by a wide audience. Judging will take place at the conclusion of the Frozen Film Festival on February 27 and 28. Awards will be given out in different categories and you will have the chance to win in multiple categories. We will judge the films in multiple categories: Narrative, Documentary, Shorts, Future, New Frontier, View After Dark and Premieres. Director Ron Gunter Awarded
2012 Honored Professional

On Friday, January 27, the Westmont Park District staff and Board of Commissioners loudly applauded as their Director, Ron Gunter, was named the 2012 IAPD Honored Professional Award. This annual award is presented by the Illinois Association of Park Districts to a park, recreation, forest preserve or conservation professional who has worked closely with citizens and the IAPD to improve the quality of life for all people in Illinois.
The recipient must have demonstrated remarkable talents in encouraging local board members to excel as citizen advocates in advance the field of parks and recreation. The Honored Professional must also have worked above and beyond the call of duty to promote park districts, forest preserves, conservation and/or recreation agencies in their communities and throughout Illinois.
The Westmont Park District staff and Board of Commissioners is extremely proud and thankful to the IAPD for recognizing the tremendous work that Ron Gunter does day after day.

The Westmont Park District maintains over 150 acres of park property throughout the village. Recreational activities are scheduled throughout the year and are listed in our seasonal activities brochure which is delivered to residents of the entire village three times each year. The Westmont Park District uses its parks and facilities as well as the recreational assets of village schools in a comprehensive program of athletics, exercise and special events. There is an activity for every age group from toddlers to senior citizens. At Westmont Park District we offer many inexpensive and fun activities, programs & classes designed for a wide variety or tastes and ages.
